Frequently asked questions
What is card clothing and what is it used for?
Card clothing (carding wire) is the layer of wire that covers a carding machine’s rollers, used to comb and separate fibre on a nonwoven line. It comes in several types: flat, flexible, metallic, circular-comb and cylinder.
What is the difference between flat, cylinder, flexible and metallic card clothing?
They differ by position on the card and by construction. Cylinder card clothing covers the main cylinder; flat card clothing covers the top flats and the stationary flats; flexible card clothing uses a pliable fabric foundation; metallic card clothing is a one-piece sawtooth wire, with separate series for non-woven, cotton-spun and woolen. Circular combs serve combing machines. Vina Nonwoven supplies all of these from White Shark.
Which carding machines does the card clothing fit?
Card clothing fits nonwoven carding machines and spinning cards. The wire type and tooth pitch are chosen by fibre type, roller and process stage — Vina Nonwoven advises the right type for each machine.
Which brand makes the card clothing, and is it available in Vietnam?
The card clothing is genuine White Shark. Vina Nonwoven supplies it in Vietnam with technical advice; we also offer a card-wire mounting service onto the carding rollers.
What is card-clothing mounting, and when should the wire be replaced?
Mounting is the job of wrapping card clothing onto a carding roller at the correct tension and pitch — done wrong, the fibre web comes out uneven and the wire wears out fast. Wire needs replacing or re-mounting when the teeth are worn or flattened, or when web quality drops; the interval depends on fibre type, fabric weight and running hours, so an engineer should inspect it on site. Vina Nonwoven performs card-clothing mounting at the customer’s plant.
