Overview

Product overview

The bico spunbond needlepunch line for automotive is a spunbond nonwoven line built to produce automotive-grade needle-punched felt from dual-component (bico) composite filaments. It works on the bico spunbond principle: PET/COPET is melt-spun into continuous composite filaments by slot air drafting, laid into a web, then consolidated by needle-punching. Combining two polymers (PET/COPET) in each continuous bico filament lets the felt stay tough and dimensionally stable at heavy basis weights while taking a molded shape under heat and pressure. The resulting material delivers high tensile strength, superior toughness and long service life while staying lightweight, sound-absorbing and 100% recyclable; its excellent moldability for press-forming makes it a critical material for automotive interiors, typically battery underbody shields and wheel hub covers for new energy vehicles (EVs). This line targets heavy fabrics at 600–2000g/m², 5.0–6.0dpf and 5–50m/min, on a 3.0m work width for 4,000 tonnes per year of output. Vina Nonwoven is the authorized Huayang representative in Vietnam, advising on line configuration by work width and target output, with installation, commissioning and warranty support.

Q & A

Frequently asked questions

What does "bico" mean and what does this line produce?

"Bico" refers to dual-component (bicomponent) composite spunbond filament; this line needle-punches bico filament into automotive-grade felt made from PET/COPET.

What automotive application is this needle-punched felt used for?

It is used for battery underbody shields and wheel hub covers on new energy vehicles (EVs).

Why is this material well suited to automotive interior/underbody parts?

It offers high tensile strength, superior toughness and long service life, while being lightweight, sound-absorbing, 100% recyclable and highly moldable for press-forming — ideal for shaped automotive components.

What are the line's key specifications?

A 3.0 m work width, 600–2,000 g/m² fabric weight, 5.0–6.0 dpf denier, a production speed of 5–50 m/min (slot air drafting), and a capacity of 4,000 t/y.
